  • There is no item for waterblasting pavement marking removal. Will one be added. There is a note that removal must be done by waterblasting.
    The Department is in the process of issuing an addendum, please monitor the website for the addendum. (04/19/2023)

  • Will an intermediate and final coat of paint be required anywhere at the repair area after the steel repair work is completed?
    The new steel is to be galvanized. Contact area with existing steel is to cleaned and painted per SP. "Cleaning and Painting Contact Surfaces areas of existing steel structures". (04/19/2023)

  • Can the allowable lane closure time indicated on sheet 8 of the specifications for Friday night be changed from 10:00PM to 9:00PM so the contractor can get the full time frame indicated in the Work Restriction on sheet 2 that states 9:00PM Friday to Monday at 5:00AM.? It's a tight schedule and we need all the time we can get...
    Contractor will be allowed to close lanes per work restriction hours 9:00PM Friday to Monday at 5:00AM. (04/19/2023)

  • 1. Will the cost of the required Railroad flagger be paid by IDOT or reimbursed to the contractor by IDOT? 2. Is the shoring reaction load indicated on sheet 12 of the contact plans R=426K the reaction per shoring leg/column? Does this account for any safety factor that may be required by the RR?
    1. IDOT will reimburse BNSF for flaggers. 2. The shoring R= 426k is the maximum reaction based on the design data from sheet 4 of 8 for the shoring location. It does include DL, LL, I and CF. Applying a FS of 2.0 then the 426k is for each column. Actual design is up to the contractor. (04/19/2023)

  • Because of the short duration of this project is a field office really required? Can this item be deleted from the contract?
