  • I see that the new REILS need to have baffles. Please provide the degrees to which the light will need to be baffled along with a plan view showing the baffling in detail..
    Baffles will be required to mitigate light pollution towards residential and business properties adjacent to the Airport. Baffles will be installed to obscure REIL’s flashing light output at horizontal and vertical degrees shown on the plans. Baffle installation and aiming shall be designed and recommended by the REIL manufacturer for a complete and certified REIL system.” (03/04/2022)

  • Runway End Identifier Lighting (REIL) - "sheet 15 of 16"; Electrical Details - 3; Spec section L-125 : Per the referenced product, specifications are requiring "Baffles" to be installed on the perimeter of the associated FLASHHEAD. This makes the specification specific and proprietary to one (1) supplier. Can the Baffles be clarified, and left as an "optional" additive, or potential field modification, post installation?

  • Per the AC 150-5345 53D addendum (current addition) the L-849 LED voltage type C REIL with baffles is a sole sourced item (ADB) and I ask that it be removed the project as this is a state block grant project under AIP funding rules. Please advise via addendum.
    The project will allow both L-849V(L) Style C and Style E REILs. An addendum will be forthcoming.” (03/04/2022)

  • Runway End Identifier Lighting (REIL) - "sheet 15 of 16"; Electrical Details - 3; Spec section L-125 : Per the referenced product, specifications are requiring L-849V, Type "C" REIL. Will you allow any substitutions to this parameter? For example, product type L-849V, type "E" would include a '3-brightness-step', allowing for LOW / MED / HIGH intensity settings, and thus meet the requested luminosity of "low". Will you allow product type L-849V, type "E" as viable substitute to that specified?

  • The plans indicated that new unitduct is to be pulled in existing ductbank, but do show a new counterpoise to be installed above said ductbank. Does the existing ductbank have a counterpose already installed, and will the new counterpoise conflict with existing? Please clarify
    Please refer to Standard Specification Section 108-3.8 Counterpoise Installation at Existing Duct Banks – new counterpoise shall be terminated at ground rods at each end of the existing duct bank. If an existing counterpoise system is present, the new counterpoise shall be bonded to the existing.” (03/01/2022)
