  • Special provisions Page 6 - Seeding Class 2 (Special) indicates Mulch Method 2 is incidental to seeding, the project also includes Erosion Control Blanket for nearly the same area. Is Mulch Method 2 only required for the area not receiving erosion control blanket?
    Per the special provisions, Mulch Method 2 will be incidental and placed on all disturbed areas which are seeded. The Erosion Control Blanket pay item is intended to be used as a temporary erosion control item in this contract. The incidental Mulch Method 2 is used for the permanent condition. Therefore, all disturbed areas will require the use of Mulch Method 2 with no deductions for areas having erosion control blanket. (04/17/2019)

  • General Note 9 on plan sheet 2 indicates soils should meet the following conditions for the top 4 inches "shall have a vegetation sustaining soil". How does this requirement adhere to the "Furnish Excavation Special" if the "vegetation sustaining soils" cannot be found within the flood plain? Also
    The requirement of "Furnish Excavation Special" is to have an approved borrow site located with the floodplain approved by the engineer. It is apparent from field visits, some soils within the floodplain are "vegetation sustaining soils" as there is vegetation present within the floodplain. (04/17/2019)

  • Furnished Excavation (Special) States that furnished excavation will be obtained from locations approved by engineer and transporting the materials to various locations throughout the limits of specified areas. Q: Can IDOT provide a print showing where these locations are and where the furnished excavation will be placed along Cargil road.
    Furnished Excavation will be placed in accordance with the Schedule for Earth Excavation (Special) on Sheet 8. 1. Floodplain Encroachment Mitigation should be performed in the vicinity of the proposed construction to be filled. 2. The Village as stated on Commitment #3 on Sheet 2 will aid in the identification of possible areas to be used 3. Floodplain Encroachment Mitigation to be located within the floodplain the fill is being placed. 4. Land being excavated for another project or purpose may be used for mitigation, provided that the ground is not already being used for mitigation or another compensatory purpose. 5. Floodplain Encroachment Mitigation to be in accordance with IDNR regulations. (04/17/2019)

    Item X0323455 Adjust Monitoring Well - Contractor to remove the existing casing and foundation and adjust the existing monitor well to meet the proposed conditions. Existing Grade of ground – 399.00± Proposed Grade of ground – 405.33’ (62’ o/s) & 404.33’ (65’ o/s) Each metal casing shall be secured with concrete in accordance with the Bollard Detail on Sheet 2 with the 2” Diameter Well (PVC) to be extended 3’ beyond the ground within the 4” Square Metal Casing (Schedule 40) with the ability to open to access the well. The existing metal casing can be approved by the Engineer for reuse if not damaged. (04/17/2019)

  • Stage Construction - Both ends of the project include traffic control standard 701501. Both ends of the project require horizontal grade correction in the form of elevated roadways adjacent to the open lane. What does the contract include to ensure one lane travel during non- construction hours?

  • Included in the Notice to bidders, listed within the "Index of Special Provisions", indexed as "US Army Corp of Engineers 408 Permit"; The responding letter from the Department of Army to Hurst Rosche (page 10) indicates in several locations "contractor shall" is it the intent of this contract to required the "awarded contractor" to complete the requirement mention? If so can the Owner provide additional information defining the contractual requirements associated with each "contractor shall"
