  • So when your quantity for furnished excavation is wrong and the contractor has to bring in more fill to finish the job, how does he get paid when there is no pay item for it? Why on earth would you make furnished ex. incidental to earth ex. when they are two completely different and separate items?
    There is one Pay Item to build the project to the lines & limits of the plans, and it is accompanied with a specific Special Provision. The quantity for payment and the quantities provided on the earthwork table are representative for the Proposed Cross Sections. If there is a specific location that this particular Contractor believes is incorrect, that should be brought to our attention immediately. (04/10/2019)

  • On the site last week, it appears that all the trees were taken down recently. For the Tree Removal, Acres pay item, are we to assume clearing the fallen trees and stumps or will this be done prior to the contract being awarded?
    The CONTRACTOR must bid TREE REMOVAL, ACRES to do the work for clearing of the fallen trees and stump removal. The fallen trees and stumps will not be cleared prior to contract award. (04/09/2019)

  • Are the plans of the existing structure available to be included for reference?

  • Why is there no pay item for furnished excavation?
    Page 4 of 71 of the Contract Special Provisions states for EARTH EXCAVATION (SPECIAL) that it includes "all embankments" in the first paragraph. EARTH EXCAVATION (SPECIAL) This work shall be constructed in accordance with Section 202 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction and shall consist of constructing this project to the lines and grades shown on the plans including all embankments and the disposal of any waste. Therefore there is no pay item, but the values are listed on Sheet 3 of 35 of the plans with appropriate footnotes to bring you back to this Special Provision. (03/27/2019)
