  • Mix table says Cores or nuclear, should it say LR1030 ?
Yes, the requirements in LR1030 are to be followed. (04/18/2019)

  • Plan details on sheet 18 of 38, section thru abutment, indicates Geocomposit Wall Drain, but there is not a pay item for it? Please advise
An addendum will be issued. (04/15/2019)

  • Steel Railing, Type SM-Overhang. On plan sheet 20 of 38 it calls for the rail overhang of 2'-6" to the end of the slab and not the "Back of Abutment". Based on the TBT type 6A standard the max spacing between the last bridge post and the first GR post is 3'-9". With a 3'-6" dimension to the back of Abutment there appears to be a clearance issue with the first GR post. Should the railing extend to the back of the Abutment(and post spacing revised) in order to meet the TBT 6A requirement? Thanks
The back of the proposed bridge abutment extends 1 foot beyond the end of the SM rail. This provides 3 inches to the center of the first traffic barrier terminal post from the back of the abutment (using the max. spacing of 3’-9” to center of first barrier terminal post from center of last bridge rail post shown in the type 6a terminal standard drawing). The barrier terminal uses W6x9 steel posts which are 4-inches wide. There should be 1-inch of clearance from the back of the abutment to the outside of the first barrier post, therefore (as designed) the post spacing requirements for the type 6A terminal appear to be met. (04/12/2019)

  • Regarding the overhang for the 251 LF of SM Rail - 1'-0 5/8" is insufficient for attachment to the traffic barrier terminals. The optimal overhang is 2'-0 1/2" - 2'-3". Will you increase the overhang on the 3 corners from 1'-0 5/8" to 2'-3"?
The plans for Base Line Road show a quantity of 108 LF of STEEL RAILING, TYPE SM, compared to the 251 LF stated in the question below. The overhang shown in the plans is 2’-6” versus the 1’-0 5/8” in the question. Also, the bridge has 4 corners of transition railing opposed to the 3 corners described in the question. (04/11/2019)

  • What Pay Item or Matl will replace the pay item Rem & dispose of Unsuitable Matl?
Unsuitable material removed would be replaced by fill (either earth excavation or furnished excavation) with the top 4-inches being topsoil per general note number 8 in the plans. (04/10/2019)
