  • Please advise how the contractor will be paid for any rock encountered during excavation (i.e. foundations, handholes, etc).
    We would not anticipate rock being encountered. Should the contractor encounter rock during excavation we would suggest an AUP be submitted to the RE for review and approval if justified. (10/26/2020)

  • Are there any soil borings available for this project?
    No soil borings were taken for the traffic signal interconnect project. (10/26/2020)

  • If open cut trenching is required in roadways, how will the contractor be paid for hard surface restoration?
    The Special Provision for Traffic Signal General Requirements indicate that the restoration of the traffic signal work area shall be included in the contract without any extra compensation allowed to the contractor. The Standard Specification gives the contractor three options of installation. If the contractor chooses to trench underground conduit, the restoration shall be included in the installation unit price. (10/26/2020)

  • For conduit shown running in the street, is it IDOTs intent for these conduits to be installed via directional bore or via open cut trench?
    The Standard Specifications give contractors the option of trenching, plowing or boring and pulling underground raceways. (10/26/2020)

  • How will the contractor get paid for utility pothole restoration in the street / hard surfaces?
    The Special Provision for Traffic Signal General Requirements indicate that the restoration of the traffic signal work area shall be included in the contract without any extra compensation allowed to the contractor. If potholes are required for the work area we would interpret this as to be included in the installation unit price. (10/26/2020)

  • What are the restoration requirements for utility potholes in the street / hard surface environment?
    The Special Provision for Traffic Signal General Requirements indicate that the traffic signal work area should be replaced in kind. If potholes are required in hard surface the restoration should be hard surface materials in kind. (10/26/2020)
