  • It appears that the temporary chain link fence portable will be placed at the edge of structure 099-4666. Given this is over live traffic on I-55, please provide a detail on how the temporary fence is secured to the structure and what type of temporary fence is required.
    See specification Temporary Chain link Fence (Portable) included as part of Addendum A. Drilling holes in the new bridge deck is not allowed. The material is chain link fence panels. Per the specification, the support of the fence and attachment to the bridge deck and ground surface is via steel legs weighted down by sandbags. Per coordination with the Engineer, it will be acceptable to install the temporary fence 7-feet south of the north edge of the bridge deck to mitigate any falling debris during a high wind event. The temporary fence at the east and west ends of the bridge must be placed to eliminate access to the 7' wide section of the bridge deck north of the fence line. (10/28/2020)

  • What height is the temporary chain link fence portable? Please confirm that Temporary Fence Panels with sandbags and stands is acceptable.

  • AISC: Please confirm that the Chain Link Fence Attached to Structure will need to be fabricated by a shop certified by AISC as prescribed in IDOT Article 106.08 ‘Certification of Metal Fabricators’.
    AISC certification will be required on applicable items according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. (10/27/2020)

  • There are no Permanent Seed, Fertilizer or Permanent Erosion Control Items. Are we to assume the Temporary Seed and Temporary Blanket Items are going to be the final Items for this?
    Permanent landscaping and erosion control items will be done in the main roadway contract 62H15 that will be on a future letting. (10/22/2020)

  • Sheet 183 & 213 show a possible conflict between Drilled Shaft No. 1 at the pier and an abandoned Kinder Morgan gas line. Would it be possible to get the depth of the line in correlation to the existing ground surface?
    Refer to contract 62895, item 104 of the 6-15-2007 IDOT Letting. Test holes #43 & 43A of plan sheets 195 & 203 should provide all necessary information. (10/22/2020)

  • The spec book mentions "Utility protection pad": Reinforced concrete protective slab over existing gas pipelines. In the plans, Kinder Morgan Gas lines are protected by "Timber matting"(page 91 to 93). Is it reinforced concrete or crane mats? and how is it paid for?
    The Department is in the process of issuing an addendum to address the question. Please monitor the website for the addendum. (10/19/2020)

  • There is conflicting information about the completion date between the bulletin and the spec book. Is it October 31 2021,or November 30 2021?
