  • GR Removal: Special Provision page 4 directs disposal of all items except all steel items shall be salvaged and delivered to a site designated by CE. Q1: Some to much of this guardrail is very old = obsolete. Does the County really want this? Q2: Assuming obsolete guardrail will be scraped, please identify a percentage of guardrail the county is expecting to be delivered. 10% of removal, 20% Q3: Where is the delivery location?
    Q1: Yes, the County wants all steel items to be salvaged. Q2: As stated in the guardrail removal special provision, the County wants “all steel items” to be salvaged, i.e. 100% of the steel items removed. The County will keep what they deem useful and will scrap the rest themselves. Q3: The delivery location will be in Hillsboro, and a more specific location will be determined by the County Engineer during construction. (04/15/2020)

  • Regarding the 2399 rail - summary of qtys and Sheet 5 indicate a 6A terminal at rail ends but Sheet 5 also calls for curled ends. In order to install curled ends, there would need to be 5A terminals instead. Please clarify the end treatment and if curled ends are required.
    The schedule on sheet 15, at location CR10-2 (i.e. SN 068-3218), specifies the NE and SW corners (i.e. approaching traffic corners) getting Type 6A terminals attached to the bridge rail and guardrail with Type 1 Sp end terminals. The schedule specifies no terminals or guardrail on the SE and NW corners (i.e. opposing traffic corners)… these two opposing traffic corners should get the curled ends attached directly to the ends of the bridge rail.   • Re: Vertical Adjustment of Guardrail: There is no Article in the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, for Vertical adjust guardrail. Is it intended for new block-outs to be installed at vertical adjust locations? If so, will you add a pay item for blocks?All previous vertical adjust projects had a pay item for blocks.
    An addendum will be issued. (04/08/2020)
