  • SP-Page 7-"Construction Sequence For Milling And Paving" & SP-9 "Maximum Drop-Offs Between Traffic Lanes" both detail a sloped wedge (minimum 1V:3H slope) Performing the wedge milling operation for this wedge would require a small mill to be out in the live lane, potentially up to 4'. this would reduce traffic to using 8' of the remaining lane and the aggregate shoulder. Will this be allowed? If not, how was the wedge intended to be completed?
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (06/03/2021)

  • Performing the "HMA Surface Removal Special" payitem will leave a vertical face of 2". How was this intended to be dealt with since the special provisions and the spec book prohibit a milled vertical face of this height?
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (06/03/2021)

  • Plan Sheet 9-Class D Patch 12" schedule shows a summary of quantities for a given area. Can a more detailed schedule be provided that shows the number of patches and sizes?
    The quantities shown separate the patches into TYPE 2, TYPE 3 & TYPE 4. The sizes of these Types of patches are spelled in article 442.01 of the standard specifications. The final locations and dimensions of all these patches including the additional 25% for winter breakup will be determined by the Resident Engineer in the field. (06/03/2021)

  • Special Provision-Page 7-"Construction Sequence For Milling And Paving" & Special Provision-"Maximum Drop-Offs Between Traffic Lanes" contradict. One specifies milling one lane and then paving the same lane before being allowed to pave the adjacent lane. The other provision states that you can mill adjacent sections of both lanes in the same day. Will you be allowed to mill both adjacent lanes in the same day?
    Yes. The contractor will be allowed to mill both sections of adjacent lanes the same day as specified in the special provision " Maximum Drop-offs Between Traffic Lanes ". (06/03/2021)

  • The schedule on Plan Sheet 7 shows a summary of the quantity for "Side Roads/Mailbox Turnout" which affects 3 payitems. Can a more detailed schedule be provided detailing number of locations and sizes?
    There are 7 side roads within the project limits and we are proposing to pave from the edge of pavement to approximately the end of the radius returns. The Resident Engineer will finalize the limits in the field. (06/03/2021)
