  • In the summary of quantities in the plans there is no pay item for 24" Thermoplastic Pavement Markings. However it shows up on the schedule. In the previous bid package this was included. Please advise which is correct. If there is no 24" Thermoplastic pavement markings, then there shouldn't be any Temporary pavement markings 24" as well
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (06/03/2021)

  • The location map on sheet 6 of 69 notes the patching will begin at Sta. 277+50 and end at Sta 389+17. The typical section for 8" concrete on sheet 10 of 89 calls out Sta 18+50 to Sta 189+00, the patch schedule on sheet 13 starts the patching at sta 6+00 and goes to . Which stationing is correct?
    There is patching throughout the contract. The northern section shown on the location map in the contract has Class B patching with HMA resurfacing. The southern portion is noted as begin/end patching because it is patching only - Class A with no resurfacing. The typical showing the continuously reinforced pavement with no resurfacing and the Class A Patching schedule all cover this southern portion indicated in the location map. (06/03/2021)

  • Special Provision page 6 directs all guardrail to be delivered to a maintenance yard. Please confirm the address of the Sector Maintenance Yard if IDOT would like the guardrail salvaged OR advise if all guardrail is to be disposed of.
    None of the guardrail is to be salvaged for delivery to IDOT maintenance yards. It should all be disposed of. (06/03/2021)

  • The cross sections do not illustrate the final position of the guardrail. Please confirm that it is correct to 'assume' that the guardrail will be driven into the 5’ wide aggregate area of the shoulder, typical at all locations, and that coring into a HMA shoulder will not be required.
    It is anticipated that the guardrail will be placed into the aggregate shoulder, not an HMA shoulder. (06/03/2021)

  • Please advise if there will be any shoulder work performed under the guardrail once it is removed. The cross sections suggest shoulder work is not going to be needed.

  • The 23 acres of seeding in the summary of quantities should be .25 per the erosion control schedule. Is the intent of the milling to stop when concrete is encountered or to mill the entire 2 3/4" depth? The pavement coring indicates HMA thicknesses less than 2 3/4" in some places. If milled the full 2 3/4" in these areas will any reinforcement be discovered?
    An addendum has been issued to address the seeding. We do not anticipate encountering steel in the milling operation. (06/03/2021)
