  • In areas where the existing roadway is getting cut down, is it the intent to undercut the subgrade 10.5" and then place 10.5" of pulverized material on the soil for cement stabilization per the note in the typical sections? If so the cross sections in the cut areas just East of Fosterburg Rd appear to only include enough quantity of end area to cut to the top of the proposed cement stabilization. There may be other locations with the same problem.
    The pulverization, removal and stockpiling of the existing roadway pavement material in the cut areas is included in the pay item for Grading and Shaping Special. (01/11/2023)

  • Page 13. 23. .....All labor, equipment, and material costs required to construction reclaimed stabilized base shall be paid for at the contract unit price per square yard for FULL-DEPTH RECLAMATION, 12.0” There is not a pay item for processing the material only one for Cement that we are seeing. Will there be an addendum adding this pay item for pulverization and processing independent of the cement 100 wt.?

  • How are the trenches resulting from existing culverts being removed supposed to be backfilled? Is the contractor to use controlled low strength material? How will this backfill be paid for?

  • The Pipe Culvert going from structure number 37 - 38 is called out to be 26' long according to the schedule on sheet 12 in the plans. According to the beginning and ending station numbers this culvert would be 71' long, but because of the skew it is slightly longer than 71'. Please confirm the length of this culvert.

  • There is a pay item for Pipe Culverts Class A Type 2. This pipe culvert is approximately 28' deep at the centerline of the road according to the elevations given in the schedule on sheet 12 in the plans. If this is correct then will this pay item be revised to the correct culvert type per an addendum?

  • There is a pay item for Pipe Culverts Class A Type 1, 36". According to the cross sections on sheet 104 in the plans this pipe culvert will be approximately 18' deep at the centerline of the road. According to Article 542 in the IDOT Spec Book this will not be a Type 1 Pipe Culvert. Will this pay item be revised per addendum?

  • According to the Pipe Culvert Schedule on sheet 12 in the plans, Trench Backfill is getting used for the Entrance Culverts. Which Method of Construction in Article 542 of the IDOT Spec book are we to use for the Entrance Culverts? Method III, which is for entrance culverts does not require Trench Backfill.

  • In the Entrance Schedule on sheet 11 in the plans, There is not a Proposed Driveway called out for Station 306+14 RT. There is a proposed culvert for this location in the Culvert Schedule on sheet 12. In the Entrance Schedule on sheet 11 there is a Proposed Driveway called out for Station 306+14 LT. but there is not a Culvert shown for this location in the Culvert Schedule on Sheet 12. On sheet 21 in the plans the Driveway on the Rt is shown but not the one on the LT. Please revise accordingly.

  • At locations in the cross sections where there are Driveways getting built, The cross sections do not seem to include a subgrade for these driveways.   • It seems the quantity of Concrete Superstructure includes enough quantity for the Approach Slabs. There is not a pay item for Concrete Superstructure (Approach Slab). Is the intent to have the Concrete Superstructure pay item include the Approach Slabs, or will You add a pay item for Concrete Superstructure (Approach Slab)?

  • There is not a pay item for Connector Pavement at the Bridge. Will Connector Pavement be required and if so, How will it be paid for?

  • There is a pay item described as Add Rock, paid for by the Square Yard. This aggregate will be variable in thickness when needed. It seems this would work better if paid for by the TON.
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications published online. (01/11/2023)

  • At locations of proposed guardrail in the plans, the aggregate shoulder seems to be widened beyond the limits of the guardrail posts according to the cross sections. If this is the intent, do the end areas in the cross sections reflect that these areas are aggregate and not dirt?

  • On sheet 63 of the plans there is a detail for Rip Rap Lined Ditch. This detail does not show Filter Fabric, nor does the plan quantity of Filter Fabric include any material for the Lined Ditches. Is the intent to not put Filter Fabric under the Rip Rap at the Lined Ditch Locations? The detail does not show 6" of Bedding Stone that is normally required under the 16" of RR-4. Is the contractor to include 6" of Bedding Stone and 16" of RR4 for The Lined Ditches?

  • There is a pay item for Stone Dumped Rip Rap Class A-3. I can not find where it is called out anywhere in the plans. Please provide more information for the reason this pay item exists.

  • The plans call for CLSM to be used at 6 different locations according to the schedule on sheet 12. Please provide more information such as vertical and horizontal limits of the CLSM.
    Quantity was calculated using the Trench backfill method. Limits will be the same as if it were trench backfill. (01/10/2023)

  • Guardrail schedule shows one continuous run of guardrail from Sta. 321+51 to 329+36 but plan sheet 22 shows an entrance between Sta. #322+00 to 323+00. Should there be additional Traffic Barrier Terminals added to the schedule and some SPBGR Type A deleted?
