  • On sheet 7 it shows that Prime and Aggregate Wedge Shoulder are to be included in the HMA Shoulder, 9" pay item. What is being asked for in regards to Agg Shoulder (depth, width)?
The pay item is 10’ wide HMA Shoulder, 9” per Standard 482006. The HMA shoulder is full width, no portion of the shoulder is to be aggregate. The standard requires a variable aggregate wedge from the edge of the full-width HMA shoulder to meet adjacent grade and eliminate any drop-off from the HMA. (01/12/2022)

  • Typical bridge joint repair projects the pay items 50102400 Conc Removal 11 cy and 50300255 Conc Superstructure 65 cy, are parallel, meaning the concrete that is removed is equal to the concrete replaced in the bridge joint. Can the department provide clarification on concrete removal qty & locations, as well as the Conc Superstructure qty & locations?
The difference is the new superstructure concrete for the raised barrier. There is no concrete removal for the barrier. (01/12/2022)

  • What specification will control partial depth 2” median removal shown on plan 15 - “bridge deck scarification” (requiring hydro-scarification) or “50102400 concrete removal”?

  • Item # 019 01-21-2022 What pay items will be used to pay for: • curb repair shown on plan sheet 15? • 2” depth microsilica overlay on the median, plan sheet 15? • 2” depth median concrete removal, plan sheet 15?
The curb repair shown on plan sheet 15 will be paid for with 50300255 Concrete Superstructure. The median concrete removal on plan sheet 15 will be paid for with 44003510 Median Removal Partial Depth. An addendum will be issued to address the microsilica overlay on the median. (12/28/2021)

An addendum will be issued to address this. (12/28/2021)

  • Is it the intent of the contract to require SSPC certification for the prime contractor? It appears that painting does not control 50% of the project cost.
The certification will be required for the painters and will be removed from the advertisement for the prime contractor. (12/21/2021)

  • Why are you requiring the prime to be SSPC-QP1 certified, wouldn't that simply be a requirement that would need to be met by a subcontractor?
The certification will be required for the painters and will be removed from the advertisement for the prime contractor. (12/21/2021)

  • Are plans of the existing bridge available to be published for our use?
The existing structure plans will be placed in the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION folder online with the Plans and Special Provisions for the contract. (12/17/2021)
