Pursuant to the Rules for Prequalification of Contractors and Issuance of Plans and Proposals, 44 Illinois Administrative Code 650.70,... "This contract requires, in addition to the normal IDOT prequalifications requirements, that the Contractor be SSPC - QP1 certified. Evidence of certification must be provided prior to receiving authorization to bid." Contractors are required to submit copies of current certificates for each Letting. These certificates must be submitted along with the contractor's original BC 57 Affidavit of Availability. (BC 57)

  • Please provide structural steel framing plan for all spans both bridges. With out this, we are not able to quantify the areas.
    The intent is not to clean and paint all structural steel surfaces. Cleaning and painting shall remain limited to the connection areas associated with cross frames, diaphragms, lateral bracing, splice plates, and associated adjacent surfaces as identified in the contract documents. The exterior fascia girder faces and bottom flanges of fascia girders remain excluded as stated in the Special Provision. (06/05/2026)

  • Please provide clarification and/or limits on the "interior girder surfaces adjacent to the connection plates" and the "structural steel between girders associated with the above connections". This is not very clear on the inclusions of work to be touched up. (i.e. connections plates are quantifiable, but the wording of those two bullets points in the JSP's makes it sound like it can be any and all structural steel outside of the connection plates)
    The item “interior girder surfaces adjacent to the connection plates” shall be limited to the girder web and flange surfaces directly adjacent to and impacted by the connection plate locations. The item “structural steel between girders associated with the above connections” shall be limited to the unpainted cross-frame, diaphragm, and lateral bracing members and their associated connection components located between girders. The intent is not to clean and paint all girder surfaces or all interior structural steel surfaces outside the immediate areas associated with the identified connections. Cleaning and painting shall remain limited to the connection areas and locations identified in General Note 5. (06/04/2026)

  • Can a detail of the cross frames be provided for both structures
    The details of the cross frames are included in the detail sheets starting from sheet 14 through sheet 21 and are applicable to both bridge structures. (05/26/2026)

  • Regarding the description on page 9 of the job specifications that identify the components to be cleaned and painted, please provide clarification and/or limits on the "interior girder surfaces adjacent to the connection plates" and the "structural steel between girders associated with the above connections". Basically, is the intent to touch up all of interior structural steel while completing the connections?
    All touch-up work associated with the previous contract will be addressed under the previous contract. The intent of this contract is to paint the connection areas identified in the contract documents and not to perform leftover touch-up work from the previous contract. (05/22/2026)

  • Is any concrete and/or slurry left behind from previous contract to be removed?
    The intent is for any leftover concrete and/or slurry from the previous contract to be removed under the previous contract prior to the start of this contract. If any such material remains and requires removal during this contract, the work will be handled as extra work in accordance with Article 109.04 of the Standard Specifications. (05/22/2026)
