The lead time for machinery brakes and motor brakes is 25 weeks after IDOT submittal approval. Accordingly, procurement within the 110 calendar day completion date is not feasible. Would IDOT clarify whether the project duration will be amended to a feasible duration or that a delayed start reflecting a feasible completion date will be granted by the Engineer? Failure to clarify the aforementioned would force bidding contractors to include liquidated damages within their proposed bid amounts.

Contract Drawing Sheet M-04, Note 2, states, "All dimensions shall be field verified prior to any work." Given the ongoing status of Contract No. 62M79, please confirm verification will be completed during shop drawing submittal review and field dimension verification will not be required under this Contract.

To properly quote replacement bearing procurement, please provide detailed shop drawings of existing bearings and shafts, and of existing machinery and motor brakes and bearings.

There are no shop drawings of the existing machinery and motor brakes/bearings. The brake/bearings shall be quoted based on the sizes provided on the Contract Plans. Final sizing will be confirmed by the Engineer during submittal review. (06/04/2026)
Contract Drawing Sheet M-02,Scope of Work, Mechanical, Machinery Room, notes A, B, C, and D, state, "Replace all rolling element bearings []" and "Replace all brakes (brake wheels provided by others)." The Project Specifications repeatedly state, "There are no construction requirements associated with this work." Please clarify the contract scope is limited to furnishing the specified equipment and does not include removal and installation.

Please clarify whether the Department intends to store components encased in the specified weatherproof storage containers in a climate controlled environment? The Contractor will provide insulated, waterproof, "weatherproof" containers as required, however, most manufacturers of these components recommend long term storage occur in climate controlled environments as a best practice.
