  • Class "E" fence per 162-2.3 (post sizes) from the Aeronautics Standards refers to Fed Spec RR-F-191 which states 8' fence requires 3" terminals (SS40), 2.5" lines (SS40), 10' gate would require 3" post (SS40), & 20' gate would require 4" post (Sch40). Is this acceptable in lieu of chart show on sheet 8 of the drawings?
    This item of work shall consist of furnishing and installing 4 ft and 8 ft. high class E zinc coated steel, chain-link fence with 3 strands of barbed wire and 24 ft. manual double swing driveway gates at the locations shown on the plans in accordance with Item 162 – CHAIN-LINK FENCES of the Illinois Division of Aeronautics Standard Specifications, IDOT Highway Standard 664001-02 and as follows: 1) All fencing shall be of the fabric, post, and top rail sizes as shown on the plans. WT40 pipe shall be considered as an approved equivalent to those shown on the plans.” (04/26/2022)

  • AER162508: Is this fence to be 7' of fabric w/ 1' of barbwire making it overall 8' or will this be 8' of fabric plus 1' of barbwire?
    The proposed fence consists of 8 feet of fabric with 3 strands of barbwire above the top of the fabric as shown on Sheet 6 of the plans (04/19/2022)
