  • The special provision for JACK AND REMOVE EXISTING BARINGS states that “In all cases, traffic shall be removed from the portion of the structure to be jacked prior to and during the entire time the load is being supported by hydraulic pressure of the jacks.” However, later in the same paragraph it states “If traffic cannot be kept off that portion of the structure during the bearing replacement then the shoring or cribbing supporting the beam(s) shall be designed to support the dead load and fu
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. The Contractor should bid as they interpret the published documents. (02/27/2019)

  • There is a set of Railroad Tracks that runs under the bridges between Piers 1 & 2. Is this an active Railroad? Is there an agreement with the Railroad to cross the tracks and can a crossing be installed? Is a Right of Entry permit required and what are the associated fees? When working near the Railroad, are Railroad flaggers required? If so, who will provide/pay for them?

  • Details on the Elastomeric Trough show that the Bent Plate is to be field welded to the existing embedded angles in the deck. There is not enough space to weld the bent plate from below. The existing joint is a finger plate joint and cannot be removed, making it impossible to weld the Elastomeric Trough Bent Plate from above. Please advise how a continuous field weld is to be accomplished.
