Contract Specifics
Pursuant to the Rules for Prequalification of Contractors and Issuance of Plans and Proposals, 44 Illinois Administrative Code 650.70,... "This contract requires, in addition to the normal IDOT prequalifications requirements, that the Contractor be SSPC - QP1 and QP2 certified. Evidence of certification must be provided prior to receiving authorization to bid." Contractors are required to submit copies of current certificates for each Letting. These certificates must be submitted along with the contractor's original BC 57 Affidavit of Availability. (BC 57)

  • Bridges 041-0075 and 0076 call to blast and paint the fascia beams. Attached to the fascia beams are many drains which are painted. Are the drains also to be blasted and painted along with the fascias? (The plans do not specifically call this out)
    The drains attached to the fascia beams on these two bridges are not to be cleaned and painted. (02/24/2021)

  • Pay Item 64300260, as shown, represents a permanent impact attenuator. Please review and change this pay item to a temporary impact attenuator pay item, as this appears to be the intent of the pay item.
    An addendum will be issued to address this. (02/23/2021)

  • Traffic Control for placement of temporary barrier wall: Please confirm that it will be acceptable to place temporary barrier wall along with temporary impact attenuators during daytime lane closures for all locations, or please identify locations that may require night time operations. It would also be helpful to know that lane closures in each direction can be set up simultaneously as to complete this operation in a single mobilization.
    The intent is to use temporary impact attenuators in conjunction with temporary concrete barrier. Nighttime operations are only required at Structure Number 041-0064 as indicated by the SOQ sheet and the special provisions. 041-0064 is the only bridge located over a section of interstate that is designated a Significant Route. There is nothing in the plans or special provisions that prevents a one lane closure in each direction on the interstate to be done simultaneously. (02/23/2021)
