Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What is my EID and what is it used for?

A: Your EID is a unique, randomly generated Employee Identification number. Once a number is assigned to an individual, it's theirs forever. It will be used to identify an individual, rather than Social Security Number, wherever possible and can be used to access online information such as your current leave balance.

Q2: What is my PIN and what is it used for?

A: Your PIN is a unique, randomly generated Personal Identification Number. After an individual initializes their original EID and PIN, they can change the PIN to make it easier to remember. The new PIN must be numeric and will be used as a “password” to gain access to certain online systems.

Q3: How and why do I initialize my EID?

A: To initialize your EID, you need to answer one of the two questions provided on the “Initialize Employee Id” screen. This is important because it provides a method to retrieve your PIN in case it's forgotten and it provides an extra level of security.

Q4: If I forget my PIN, what should I do?

A: In the case an individual forgets their PIN; they should go to the “Retrieve PIN” screen and enter their EID and click the Find button. The question they originally answered will be displayed and they need to answer the question and click the Submit button. Once answered correctly, the PIN will be displayed on the screen. If a user can't remember the answer they provided or is having other difficulties, they should contact the Help Desk at (217) 524-4784.

Q5. I want to change my PIN, how can I do this?

A: Changing your PIN is accomplished by going to the “Change PIN” screen and entering your EID, your current PIN, and then entering the new number you would like for a PIN. If successful, the new PIN will be displayed on the screen for verification. Your PIN can be changed as many times as you would like.
