What products has IDOT allowed to be used for the "Protective Coat Special"? We are having troubles finding a product. Does IDOT intend for the contractors to use multiple materials for "Surface Filler Special"? There are some cracks as small as 1/32" to be filled and others where several inches of concrete is broken away and has exposed rebar.

Cracks less than 1/32" are to be repaired using Protective Coat, Special. Cracks greater than or equal to 1/32" are to be repaired using Surface Filler Special. Products previously used for Protective Coat, Special are Sikagard 550 Elastocolor and MasterProtect EL 850. Approved alternatives meeting the specification requirements would also be acceptable. Which structure(s) will get the filler and protective coat?

As noted on plan sheet 47 of 47, Surface Filler (Special) and Protective Coat (special) shall be applied to structures 072-0127, 072-0128 (locations 5 & 6), and 090-0153 (location 3). (02/21/2023)
