  • General: 1) Will IDOT be adding a ‘Mobilization’ pay item as was provided in previous contracts? 2) In an attempt to apply traffic control to the pay items, does IDOT have statistics on how often the repairs occur on expressways, two lane roads, etc.? Also a list or map of applicable roadways? 3) In the event that specialty items like impact attenuators and their repair components are needed, or any other specialty items, will IDOT allow additional time to procure these specialty items?
    1) No, please reference the Special Provisions for ‘Regular Work’ and ‘Emergency Work’. District is trying something new by not providing the mobilization pay item, that item was subject to overbid on previous contracts. 2) No. The Special Provisions state: ‘The damage to repair is generally a result of automobile accidents, therefore, the need and locations of any repairs are random in nature.’ 3) Please reference the Special Provision for ‘Work Order’. A work order will show the class of work, the date issued to the Contractor, a completion date, work order number, location, item description, and quantity of removals or repairs to be made.   • Traffic Barrier Terminal Type 1 Special-Flare (Pre-MGS): Please confirm that it will be acceptable to provide an SRT terminal with ‘steel posts’ which is currently available in a ‘Pre-MGS’ Extruder Head / Repair TBT 1 SPL Tangent: The ET 2000 / ET PLUS Extruder Head is not available for purchase in Illinois. IF an ET product is damaged, will it simply be replaced with a Tangent terminal on IDOT’s list of approved TBT 1 Special ?? OR please advise what we can expect with this item.
    Re: SRT terminal) Please reference the Special Provision for ‘Midwest Guardrail System’. ‘SRT-350’ terminal is listed as wood post system only. The steel post terminal does not meet NCHRP 350 as required by the special provision. RE: Extruder Head) Depends on the extent of damage to the ET terminal. If the extruder head is damaged and cannot be reused then the entire terminal would have to be replaced. (04/17/2018)

As specified, this work shall consist of the preparation and operations necessary for the movement of personnel, equipment, supplies, and incidentals to the job site designated by the Engineer.
