  • On major entrance and exit ramps will both shoulders of the ramp be paid for along with the mainline shoulder as some of these areas turn into acres of land to be cleaned
    The Right-Hand Sides of the ramp up to the Fence will get paid as well as the Right-Hand Side past that ramp from the edge of payment to the crossing bridge. When the grass area is very extensive litter picking shall be per Limitations section of the special provisions. (04/09/2021)

  • Will elevated areas with no shoulder be counted as shoulder miles as you move down the road or will this be deducted from the shoulder mile quantity?
    Litter picked elevated area with no shoulders will be added to the shoulder miles for payment. (03/30/2021)

  • THERE IS NO MENTION OF 'LIQUID' CONTAINERS. SINCE THE CONTENT OF ANY LIQUID CONTAINERS CAN NOT BE REDILY DETERMINED IN THE FIELD, IS THE CONTRACTOR TO REMOVE LIQUOD CONTAINERS? WHAT ABOUT ANY KIND OF BIOHAZARD MATERIAL THAT MAY BE ENCOUNTERED?
    If the liquids are deemed to be hazardous, the engineer will need to be notified and follow hazardous material protocol. If the material is not directly marked hazardous, it will be assumed to be non-hazardous liquid. (03/29/2021)

  • THE SPECIFICATIONS STATE TO REMOVE '...DEAD BUSHES, BROKEN BRANCHES, AND LIMBS...". iS IT THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO DETERMINE IF BUSHES ARE DEAD? IS THE CONTRACTOR TO ACRUALLY DIG OUT ANY DEAD BUSHES IN ORDER TO DISCARD? IS THERE A SIZE LIMITATION ON THE SIZE OF BRANCHES AND LIMBS THAT ARE TO BE REMOVED? iF BROKEN BRANCHES ARE STILL CONNECTED TO DTEES IS IT THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO CUT THE BROKEN BRANCHES FROM THE EXISTING TREE?
    This is in reference to debris left on the side of the road such as landscape waste. The District does not want the contractor to do any landscaping on State property. (03/29/2021)

  • THE SPECIFICATIONS DESCRIBE REMOVING BROKEN GLASS. TO WHAT EXTENT IS GLASS TO BE REMOVED? ARE WE TO REMOVE ONLY GLASS PIECES LARGER THAT APPROXIMATELY THE SIZE OF A CIGARETTE BUTT OR DRING CAN PULL RING?

  • WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM WEIGHT OF 'LITTER' THAT IS EXPECTED TO BE PICKED UP? THE SPECIFICATIONS DESCRIBE VEHICLE PARTS BUT SOME PARTS MAY REQUIRE EQUIPMENT TO PICK UP AND DISPOSE.
    Anything of nominal size. The contractor has the option to request that the engineer have the maintenance yard dispose of oversize debris such as large deer as stated in the "Litter Picking" special provision Disposal of Waste paragraph. (03/29/2021)
