  • Are there full geotechnical reports that can be made available? I'm particularly interested in the soils near the concrete column areas.

  • Ornamental Fence: Is it correct to assume that we will be utilizing the LC-DOT Detail LC6601 on plan sheet 362 for all of the ornamental fence? Questions to responses: Will an Addendum be issued to show the new post spacing on the ornamental fence and parapet railing? Can a detail be made that illustrates what gaping over the expansion joint look like?
This contract has been WITHDRAWN from the letting. (01/12/2018)

  • Under the Noise Abatement Wall, Ground Mounted, Structure Mounted Spec (page# 56 of the specification) there is a note "The manufacture of the precast concrete elements shall be certified by the Precast Prestressed Concrete Institute" - If a manufacture has the category for Noise Wall on their approved codes and has is a Certified NPCA (National Precast Concrete Association) plant would that be acceptable? NPCA is gear toward this type of wall since it is not Prestressed (PCI expertise).
A manufacturer with the category for Noise Wall on their approved codes and has is a Certified NPCA (National Precast Concrete Association) plant would be acceptable. (01/10/2018)

  • On Plan Sheet 88: 1) Is this Chain Link Fence 4' a temporary fence? 2) How does the existing fence removal get paid? 3) After the CL Fence 4' gets removed at the end of the project, does the original removed fence get re-installed? If yes, how is that paid?
    1) No. See section 664 of the Standard Specifications 2) Fence Removal. 3) Removal of the Chain Link Fence, 4’ will be at the direction of the Engineer and through coordination with the Property Owner should it be removed at all. (01/08/2018)

  • Pay Item 66400105 Chain Link Fence 4’: The Schedule of Quantities on plan sheet calls out 45 LF CL Fence 4’ Special between 478+00 and 490+00. Plan sheets 54-57 have no references for chain link fence 4’. Please amend the plan sheets to illustrate where the fence is going and its configuration. This is important because the terminals are incidental to the fence. Also, confirm if this fence is a typical IDOT galvanized fence or identify what is ‘special’ about it.
Per the Stage of Construction – Stage II (Sheet #88), a Chain Link Fence, 4’ is to be installed to maintain a secure property perimeter at the southwest corner of Bristol Trail and Quentin Road as stipulated through Land Acquisition. (01/05/2018)

  • Please confirm that the Ornamental Fence will comply with the detail on plan sheet 362, including the standard 8’ 0” post spacing. Walls C & N detail the Ornamental Fence with base plated posts on top of the wall Plan Sheets 272 and 309 prescribe a continuous post spacing along the top of the wall. This does not take into consideration the expansion joints in the wall.
We’ll re-space the posts and “gap” over the expansion joints. Post spacing will be ~ 8-ft. (01/05/2018)

  • Should we utilize the post spacing noted, ignoring the expansion joints, OR will IDOT issue an addendum revising the post spacing to account for the expansion joint(s) in the wall using the manufacturer’s standard 8’ 0” OC post spacings? Special provision page 65-69 discusses ‘gates’. Please confirm the need, quantity and location(s), and widths of each gate needed, if any.
There are no gates required in this contract. (01/05/2018)

  • Par Rail Spl: Plan Sheets 257,276 and 300 prescribe a continuous post spacing along the top of the wall. This does not take into consideration the expansion joints in the wall. Should we utilize the post spacing noted, OR will IDOT issue an addendum revising the post spacing to account for the expansion joint(s) in the wall using the IDOT Base Sheet R-29 maximum allowable post spacing of 10’ 0” OC? Please confirm that the Parapet Rail Special will be Galvanized and then Powder Coated.
We’ll re-space the posts and “gap” over the expansion joints. Per the Special Provisions (Sheet #69-70) for the “Parapet Railing, Special” the shop finishes for the exposed surfaces of the parapet railing include powder coating. (01/05/2018)

  • It appears that typical specialty items are not accounted for as specialty items can this be reviewed and addressed as an addendum?
An addendum will be issued to revise the Specialty Items. (01/02/2018)
