  • Sheet 44 of plans has quantity summary for work by contractor and work by UPRR. The work by contractor quantities do not match the quantities listed in the bid form. Please confirm quantities for proposed track work.
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications published online. (10/30/2024)

  • Does the rail for the contractor constructed track need to be welded or can it be left with bolted joints?
The shoofly (contractor constructed track) needs to be continuously welded rail. (10/30/2024)

  • Plan sheet 226 calls for the bridge to use an inorganic paint system. The bridge specification calls for the bridge to use an organic paint system, which is better suited for prefabricated truss bridges. Please confirm which is correct. Thank you.
Please provide an organic paint system according to the requirements of the PEDESTRIAN TRUSS SUPERSTRUCTURE Guide Bridge Special Provision (GBSP). (10/29/2024)

  • The special provisions state that all track materials must be from a UPRR approved vendor outlined in "UPRR DWG 6010" (Approved Trackwork Suppliers). This does not appear to be included in the plans or specs. Can this be provided?
The UPRR drawings and specifications are available on their website: https://www.up.com/emp/engineering/apps/archives/standards/public/index.cfm Please note the UPRR standard drawing 6010 has changed to 6003 and is available here: https://www.up.com/emp/engineering/mapcontent/standards/track%20standard%20drawings/6003.pdf Finally, please see the following link for a description of changes and a comparison of old to new drawing numbers as several others have changed: https://www.up.com/emp/engineering/mapcontent/standards/track%20standard%20drawings/WHATS_NEW.pdf (10/29/2024)

  • How do you drain the deep cut under the RR bridge during construction if the storm sewer is partially complete and capped? If you have to pump the rain water out, where do you pump it to?
The method(s) used to dewater the Woodside Rd viaduct and/or stage the storm sewer would fall under, “contractor’s means and methods.” For the storm sewer, two possible options might be: 1) pump the water from structure #33 to the south side of the road, then let it flow overland through a temporary pipe under Ironside Dr. to the receiving creek or 2) complete the storm sewer work as part of the viaduct stage. (10/25/2024)

  • v1 bars for the south abutment drilled shafts of SN 084-9950 are called out in plan view as black bars (sheet 216 of 368), but are specified as epoxy coated in the bill of materials on sheet 217 of 368. Additionally, the total weight of "Reinforcement Bars, Epoxy Coated" in the BOM (sheet 217 of 368) does not seem to include the weight of the v1 bars. North Abutment similar. Please confirm that the v1 and v15 bars for the abutment drilled shafts should not be epoxy coated.
The v1 and v15 bars for the abutment drilled shafts for SN 084-9950 should not be epoxy coated. (10/23/2024)

  • Plan sheet 205 of 368 refers to a special provision for "Pipe Underdrains for Structures 4"; however, no such special provision is included with the bid documents.
The referenced special provision used to be a Bridge Office, “Guide Bridge Special Provision” but was incorporated into Section 601 of the 2022 Standard Specifications. (10/22/2024)
