  • Special Provision page 2 references that the Traffic Barrier Terminal Ty 1 SPL Tangents “shall meet all the requirements of NCHRP 350 but will be installed to match the detail shown in the plans named “Steel Plate Beam Guardrail, Pre-Midwest Guardrail System”.” Please specify what plan sheet has this named detail or clarify what is the intent of this provision.
    An addendum will be issued to address this. Upon further inspection, there are no Traffic Barrier Terminal Ty 1 SPL Tangents on this project. Therefore no Addendum will be issued. (02/27/2020)

  • Drawing 39 BOM shows Traffic Counter x 5 EA. There is 1 at I-74 @ Sterling Ave, 1 at I-74 & Forrest Hill Ave, 1 at I-74 @ Sheridan Ave, and 1 at I-74 @ Pinecrest Overpass. Please confirm where the 5th is located.
    The location at I-74 @ Sheridan has two traffic counters. One for EB I-74 and one for WB I-74. This is also shown on the scheduled of quantities sheet 7. It is also shown on Sheet 39, however there is no call out for the WB detector, only a symbol. (02/26/2020)

  • The plans do not illustrate the guardrail and do not clearly identify if the guardrail will be positioned in an aggregate or HMA / WMA shoulder. It is customary to provide a cross section illustrating the position of the guardrail. Please amend the cross sections or declare what type of shoulder the guardrail posts will be driven in to. It would also be helpful to advise the depth of the potential HMA under the guardrail.
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (02/26/2020)

  • Can you confirm that the NEMA TS-4 2016 specifications will be required for the Amber Dynamic Message Signs, as this is the newest release from NEMA?
    DMS signs need to be compliant with NEMA TS-4. (02/21/2020)

  • Will ILDOT confirm that the Dynamic Message Sign must meet the FCC Part 15 and provide 3rd party testing for confirmation that the DMS manufacture is complying to FCC Part 15 requirements.
    The FCC Part 15 requirements pertain to the pay items for TRAFFIC COUNTER (page 36 of special provisions) and CLOSED-CIRCUIT TELEVISION DOME CAMERA, HD (page 25 of the special provisions). There are no requirements for the pay item TRUSS MOUNTED LED DYNAMIC MESSAGE SIGN. The Department does not conduct third party testing to verify compliance, however, the vendor must submit documentation from the manufacturer to confirm compliance to standards and specifications.   • Can you provide the specifications for the Dynamic Messages Signs for the project? Amber 2.6 pitch walk-in DMS or Full Color 20mm pitch Walk-in?
