The only traffic control pay item on the project is for standard 701201, which is a lane closure for roads under 45 MPH. However, under the TRAFFIC CONTROL PLAN special provision, under “limitations of Construction,” indicates that no lane closures are allowed on I-72 and that all work shall be accomplished from the shoulder. Is the work associated with the shoulder closure on I-72 to be paid for under the pay item for 701201, or can a more applicable pay item be added?

The contractor should bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (07/15/2022)
