  • HMA: The plans do not contain cross sections which would normally illustrate the guardrail. Please advise if the guardrail will be positioned in an aggregate or HMA / WMA shoulder. If it is an HMA/WMA shoulder, the depth of the shoulder would be helpful.
    Some of the new posts for the Type 6A terminals will be installed in 8" thick HMA shoulders. Others in aggregate shoulders. (01/06/2021)

  • There are no cross sections provided showing guardrail placement on shoulders. Are type 6a's on the northern side of I-64 the only terminals that will fall through shoulder just as the existing terminals are?
    The placement of the new guardrail terminal on the shoulders is as per the highway standard for a Type 6A. (12/31/2020)

  • - Will stages be done simultaneously at each structure? Meaning all guardrail on stage 1 side can be completed simultaneously in one mobilization and all guardrail on stage 2 side be done simultaneously? Or will stages 1 & 2 both be complete at one structure before starting stage 1 at the next structure? - What happens at ends of Type 6a's? Can a guardrail schedule and layout please be provided.
    The staging sequence is up to the contractor. (12/30/2020)

  • -What is happening at ends of traffic barrier terminal type 6a's? Will 6a's be tied into existing guardrail or are additional end terminals required that are not listed in pay items? - Sheets 16 & 23's Bill of Materials both show a quantity of 4 EA, but drawings on sheets 16 & 23 call out Type 6a at approach ends only. Please clarify. - Can a guardrail layout sheet/schedule be provided showing where existing rail is to be removed and where new guardrail and traffic barrier terminals are to go
    The Type 6A terminals are to be installed at the approach ends only, as shown in the plans, and are to tie into the existing guardrail. A quantity of guardrail removal is included in the plans to remove the existing guardrail so the Type 6A terminals can be installed. (12/30/2020)

  • On SN 097-0046(47), Pay item qty for the 2399 does not match the elevation drawing which shows the O-O of rail to be 106'-6. According to the BOM and the plan O-O of rail would be 110'. Please clarify.
    An addendum has been issued to address this. (12/30/2020)

  • Are the existing bridge plans available for SNs 097-0042(43) and 097-0045(47)? Also, the overhang for the 2399 rail on SN 097-0042(43) is shown as 1'-11" - standard overhang with T6A terminals is 2'-0 1/2" - 2'-3". Will you correct the overhang length and pay quantity?
