  • Spl Provision page 3 states the Guardrail Reflectors are INCIDENTAL to Guardrail Type A 9 FT without any direction on what the spacing is or incidental quantity to be included. IDOT has Pay Item 78200005 Guardrail Markers Type A. Please maintain IDOT protocol by adding Pay Item 78200005 Guardrail Marker Type A, with the expected quantity, by Addendum.
    The Type A Reflector will remain incidental to the Guardrail Post pay item. Standard Drawing 782006-01 shows the Type A Reflector and refers to Standard Drawing 635001-02 Delineators for spacing of reflectors on a curve. The curve radius is approximately 2,371 feet. The table on Standard Drawing 635001-02 provides the spacing required. (06/02/2022)

  • The plan sheet showing the removal and replacement of TBT 1 Spl Tangent terminals at the I-24 interchange directs that the “removal of existing end terminal shall be included in the TBT 1 SPL Tangent terminal”. This project already includes Pay Item 63200310 Guardrail Removal, which would typically be utilized in this application. By Addendum, please delete the INCIDENTAL removal requirement and pay the removal with the GR Removal pay item.
    The cost of guardrail terminal section is included in the cost of guardrail removal per the Specifications. The quantities shown on the schedule of cost and on the plans includes the length of the terminal section in the guardrail removal pay item. (06/02/2022)

  • The 10% DBE goal for 229 is exceptionally high. Road Resurfacing projects like this one have only few subcontracting opportunities. This has to be acknowledged to avoid relying on race discrimination to meet unfair DBE goals. Please review IDOT’s DBE formula and dramatically lower the goal by Addendum.
    The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications published online. (06/02/2022)

  • For the new pipe culvert being installed across Tunnel Hill Road, I noticed there is no trench backfill pay item. Is trench backfill for this incidental to the new pipe culvert?
    Per the special provision, trench backfill is incidental to Pipe Culverts , Class C, Type III. (05/23/2022)
