  • Will Hot Applied Crack Filling Material be allowed in lieu of the specified Microsurfacing Materials for the Longitudinal Joint Replacement scope of work?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Will the 5" HMA Binder be able to be placed in one single 5" lift for the Longitudinal Joint Replacement scope of work?
Yes, the 5" HMA Binder will be able to be placed in one single lift. The QMP for this material is QCQA and adequate density will be required on the full 5" lift. (01/12/2026)

  • Would the Department consider approving a reduced tack coat application rate of 0.025 lb/SF, in lieu of the 0.08 lb/SF shown in the contract, for the microsurfacing work? The reduced rate would help ensure the 1.5-inch cracks remain open, allowing the microsurfacing to properly penetrate and fill the cracks rather than being inhibited by an excessive tack film.
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Per the Cold Milling (Special) provision the construction requirements specify a maximum of two passes. Just confirming we are to complete the milling within two passes per lane?
Contractor is limited to two passes per lane to achieve the required mill thickness. (01/12/2026)

  • If the micro-surfacing material settles and a second lift is required will the second lift need to cure for 3 days as specified for the initial installation? If so opening the roadway by Friday afternoon will not be achievable. Can the specified cure time be adjusted to a lower amount of hours / days?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Would the Department approve simultaneous short-duration daily lane closures in the northbound and southbound lanes for the purpose of completing the joint repair work?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Would the Department allow short-term lane closures greater than three (3) miles to increase productivity and reduce the overall duration of traffic impacts associated with the joint repair work?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Can we keep a permanent shoulder closure up if needed without time restrictions?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Does the Work Restriction spec for "every 10,000 feet of lane closures, 20,000 feet of both lanes open are required prior to closing the lane again" refer to only the Class B or A patching operation or all work?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Is there a limit on the length (distance) of a lane or shoulder closure allowed at any given time?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • Per Notes 4 under the General Notes Brass Station Stenciling is called out.  Due to the proposed lift thickness of the UTBWC there will be no way to install this.
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)

  • If the 1.5" Wide x 10" Deep Joint is routed and filled with Mircrosurfacing Materials as the initial operation, would the 20" Wide x 3/16" Max lift be required underneath the 5" HMA Binder Patch?
The project should be bid according to the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, Highway Standards, and the plans and specifications available online. (01/12/2026)
